2024 SaaS Disruption Report: Security and Data

This year, Onymos teamed up with Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) to publish its inaugural report on the state of Software-as-a-Service: the 2024 SaaS Disruption Report.

While the technology leaders we surveyed recognize how important data retention is, they’re still relying on SaaS — and that’s putting them at risk.

Key findings from the report include:

  • Nearly half (45%) of tech leaders report experiencing a cybersecurity incident through a third-party SaaS solution in the past year.
  • Security (72%) and data privacy (65%) are the highest priorities of tech leaders in charge of software products and services
  • Nearly all (91%) tech leaders believe keeping their data from third-party vendors is vital
  • Only 36% of tech leaders exclusively use on-premises infrastructure or private clouds

“As we increasingly rely on SaaS to develop our business-critical applications and software, we must reconsider how we approach SaaS data privacy and security. It is no longer acceptable to require companies to hand over their data in exchange for key functionality or faster time-to-market,” said Shiva Nathan, Founder and CEO of Onymos.

“Onymos’ research highlights the growing security concerns surrounding SaaS applications. By identifying the critical need to retain data within internal applications, they’ve uncovered a significant gap in the market,” said Jon Brown, Sr. Analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group.
